La Cancillería argentina cuestionó la instalación del sistema anti aéreo Sky Sabre en las Islas Malvinas. Y reclamó el reclamo del diálogo por la soberanía.
La República Argentina rechazó hoy “en los términos más contundentes el nuevo despliegue de armamento militar británico en las Islas Malvinas”, informaron las autoridades de Cancillería a través de un comunicado.
El pronunciamiento se realizó en virtud de que “recientemente se conoció la instalación del sistema anti aéreo Sky Sabre en las Islas Malvinas” lo que constituye Wun sistema de defensa aérea, basado en tierra, de nueva generación que viene a reemplazar a los misiles de tipo Rapier y que triplican su alcance”, detallaron las autoridades.
En este sentido, ampliaron con que “se trata de una nueva e injustificada demostración de fuerza y un deliberado apartamiento de los llamamientos de las numerosas resoluciones de las Naciones Unidas y de otros organismos internacionales, que instan tanto a la Argentina como al Reino Unido a reanudar las negociaciones, a fin de encontrar una solución pacífica y definitiva a la disputa de soberanía que involucra a ambos países en la Cuestión de las Islas Malvinas”.
En este punto, la Cancillería manifestó que “la persistencia del Reino Unido en la ampliación de su armamento militar en el Atlántico Sur contraviene específicamente la resolución 31/49 de la Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas que insta a ambas partes (la Argentina y el Reino Unido) a que se abstengan de adoptar decisiones unilaterales que entrañen la introducción de modificaciones en la situación mientras las Islas están atravesando por el proceso de negociación por ella recomendado”.
Además, advirtió que la “presencia militar contradice también la resolución 41/11 de la Asamblea General (Zona de Paz y Cooperación en el Atlántico Sur) que, entre otras disposiciones, “exhorta a los Estados de todas las demás regiones, en especial a los Estados militarmente importantes, a que respeten escrupulosamente la región del Atlántico Sur como zona de paz y cooperación, en particular mediante la reducción y eventual eliminación de su presencia militar en dicha región”.
En ese sentido, “la alegada condición defensiva de la base militar británica en el Atlántico Sur no sólo es totalmente injustificada sino también representa una amenaza para toda la zona”, indicó el texto.
“Frente a estos nuevos actos de hostilidad, la República Argentina sigue reafirmando su vocación pacífica y su permanente y constante voluntad de retomar las negociaciones con el Reino Unido con el fin de alcanzar una solución definitiva a la disputa de soberanía”, acotó la Cancillería.

On this point, the Foreign Ministry stated that “the persistence of the United Kingdom in expanding its military armament in the South Atlantic specifically contravenes resolution 31/49 of the United Nations General Assembly, which urges both parties (Argentina and the United Kingdom Kingdom) to refrain from adopting unilateral decisions that entail the introduction of modifications in the situation while the Islands are going through the negotiation process recommended by it”. In addition, he warned that the “military presence also contradicts General Assembly resolution 41/11 (Zone of Peace and Cooperation in the South Atlantic) which, among other provisions, “urges the States of all other regions, especially militarily important States, to scrupulously respect the South Atlantic region as a zone of peace and cooperation, in particular by reducing and eventually eliminating their military presence in that region”. In that sense, “the alleged defensive condition of the British military base in the South Atlantic is not only totally unjustified but also represents a threat to the entire area,” the text said. “Faced with these new acts of hostility, the Argentine Republic continues to reaffirm its peaceful vocation and its permanent and constant will to resume negotiations with the United Kingdom in order to reach a definitive solution to the sovereignty dispute,” the Foreign Ministry said.
